Eggnog

Beat together;

1 egg, well beaten
2 Tablespoons sugar

Beat in;

1 cup chilled rich milk
1/4 teaspoon vanilla

Serve cold in tall glass sprinkled lightly with nutmeg

*1 ½ tablespoon sherry flavoring and 1 tablespoon either brandy or rum flavoring may be substituted for vanilla.

Chocolate Eggnog

Make the above recipe except omit sugar and blend in 2 Tablespoons Chocolate Syrup. (Chocolate Syrup Recipe listed below.)

Chocolate Syrup

This is nice to keep on hand for beverages, desserts and sauces.

Combine in saucepan;

1 cup cocoa or 4 squares unsweetened chocolate (4 oz.)
2 cups sugar
¼ teaspoon salt

Stir in;

2 cups cold water

Simmer until smooth and thick (about 5 minutes), stirring or beating with rotary beater.

Cool and add;

1 Tablespoon vanilla

Stir well. Pour into jar. Cover. Store in refrigerator.
